Xu entered UNSW Canberra as a PhD student in June 2019. Before it, he obtained a Master's degree majoring in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences from University of Nebraska - Licoln in 2018. His research focus is investigating Australia’s extreme heat using climate models. Currently, he is evaluating the performance of CMIP6 models in simulating the extreme temperatures over Australian regions.
