BSc Hons (1st class) (Physics with Meteorology) University of Edinburgh, UK, (2004).
MSc (Weather and Climate Modelling) Reading University, UK, (2006).
PhD (Meteorology) Reading University, UK, (2010).
Dr Catto's expertise is in the representation of extratropical cyclones and storm tracks in current and future climate simulations, innovative approaches to model evaluation, and regime methods for investigating trends and model representation of precipitation.
Dr Catto is currently undertaking research on midlatitude weather systems and their associated precipitation – investigating links between the dynamics of the systems and their rainfall; evaluating the ability of climate models to represent these links; and investigating their potential future changes.
This research is intended to apply globally, but would contribute to understanding Australian climate variability and change.
