Biography

Dr Claire Vincent is a senior lecturer in the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Her research interests include tropical weather and climate variability, extreme rainfall and the variability of the renewable energy resource. She is particularly interested in the different scales of variability in the weather and climate system, and the ways in which these scales interact. Dr Vincent completed her PhD at the Technical University of Denmark in 2010, where she examined the mesoscale variability of the wind resource. Prior to this, Dr Vincent worked at Australia's Bureau of Meteorology, first as a forecaster and then on a project to verify near-surface winds from mesoscale modelling.
