Mesoscale moistening and heating with MJO in the Maritime Continent

This PhD is at the University of Melbourne  with Claire Vincent and Todd Lane.

The project will examine mesoscale heating and moistening associated with the passage of the Madden Julian Oscillation through the Maritime Continent in a hierarchy of models, through real and idealised modelling. This work will directly influence our ability to represent the MJO in current and future climate models.

There will be an opportunity for an extended stay at the University of Reading, and possible involvement with the ‘Years of the Maritime Continent’ field campaigns.

The closing date for domestic scholarships is October 31, 2017. Please contact Claire Vincent at claire.vincent@unimelb.edu.au for more information.
