Research Fellow, Climate and Fluid Physics

Research School of Earth Sciences

PhD in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (June 2015). University of Cambridge. BSc with Honours in Physics of the Earth (2011). Australian National University. BSc in Mathematics and Physics (2010). University of Western Australia.

Callum investigates small-scale ocean and climate processes that are currently unresolved by global models. Of particular interest are waves, eddies, fronts, convection, and the interplay of dynamics and thermodynamics at the ocean surface. His research uses a combination of theory, numerical modeling, laboratory studies and in situ observations to model such processes and work towards parameterisations of their impacts for implementation in global models.
