THESIS: Honours: Quantifying Eddy-Internal Wave Energy Exchanges in the Southern Ocean

Honours: Understanding energy exchanges throughout the ocean is key to understanding the global climate system. Many models simulate the dissipation of energy of mean flow, such as eddies and currents, with high turbulence parameterisations. However, lee waves, and internal waves more generally, exchange a significant amount of energy with the mean flow, and is one of the sinks and sources of its energy. Taking this into account in models will lead to a better agreement between observations and model output.
