Francesco Sardelli

PhD Student

School of Earth Sciences
University of Melbourne

Francesco received his master’s degree in Theoretical Physics at the University of Pisa (Italy) in 2008. His master thesis was about the theory of Loop Quantum Gravity. In 2011 Francesco completed a PhD in quantum gravity at the University of Tours (France). He got involved with the Loop Quantum Gravity scientific community and his research involved some String Theory, too. Following the completion of his PhD, Francesco completed a six-month research period at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics near Potsdam (Germany). Following the win of a competition offering a teacher training course, Francesco taught mathematics and physics at a high school in Italy. However, he soon found he missed research, its creative aspects and using advanced mathematical tools, and started thinking about exploring new research possibilities. In June 2019, Francesco started a new PhD in data assimilation at the University of Melbourne under the supervision of Prof. Craig Bishop.
