Biography

Sanaa is interested in improving the current global gridded estimates of the water and energy fluxes. She completed her PhD in 2019 at the Climate Change Research Centre, UNSW (Sydney), where she implemented a novel weighting technique to develop observationally constrained hybrid and coherent estimates of the surface water and energy budgets with well-defined uncertainties. At CLEX, Sanaa will focus on improving those estimates. She will also examine the possibility of developing a global hybrid evapotranspiration product that can better represent drought features. Sanaa uses a wide range of satellite-based estimates, reanalysis products, model outputs and in-situ observations. Sanaa has a great passion to encourage female high school students to choose STEM career paths. In addition, Sanaa works one day a week with the Centre's Knowledge Brokerage team where she develops climate science lesson plans in collaboration with the Monash Climate Change Communication Research Hub.
