Biography

Dongxia (Dawn) submitted her PhD at Monash University in 2021. Her thesis highlighted the importance of tropical sea surface temperature variability in remotely forcing multi-decadal changes in the Southern Hemisphere mid-latitude jet and Antarctic Sea ice based on a range of climate model experiments. Dawn started her new role as a Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes, aiming to examine the co-variability of weather and climate modes such as ENSO, the MJO and IOD and their relationship with heavy rainfall over the Australian tropics based on observational datasets and climate model experiments.
