Biography
Tim is a postdoc research associate at the Climate Change Research Centre at UNSW Sydney. He completed his PhD at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in 2016. His thesis work was on the small-scale variability of precipitation, which influences interpretation of weather radar data, and the proper representation of precipitation in numerical weather models. He worked in postdoc roles at EPFL and the University of Bern, Switzerland before moving to UNSW in 2020. In his current research, he is using high-resolution simulations to investigate the effects of climate change on convective processes in the atmosphere. He is interested in unravelling the complex ways that climate change may affect severe thunderstorms and hailstorms in future.
