The CLIPSSA 2021-2024 project. CLIPSSA (Climate of the Pacific, local knowledge and adaptation strategies ) is a joint project developed by IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement), Météo-France (the French Meteorological Service) and AFD (Agence Française de Développement). The accumulation of rainfall over a given area depends on a range of things, including duration, intensity, and propagation speed. It is the characteristics of convection that ultimately determine these rainfall properties. The idea for this project is to use a simple method to characterise the properties of the most intense convective / rainfall bearing systems from radar data.

In this paper, the researchers investigated how dryness, represented by the aridity index, affects the inter-annual variability of ecosystem iso/anisohydricity at the regional scale, estimated using satellite microwave vegetation optical depth observations.
