AMOS and AMSA Panel: Marine Plastics: Finding solutions by linking science and community

13 August 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join our expert panel for a discussion on the impacts of marine plastic debris and what can be done to address this major environmental issue.

  • Dr David Griffin – Physical Oceanographer, CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere, who will discuss ocean circulation and marine debris;
  • Dr Lauren Roman – Researcher, CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere, who will discuss the impacts of marine debris on sea life;
  • Councillor Bill Harvey – Hobart City Council, who will outline Hobart City Council’s response to the plastic pollution issue.

This forum is jointly presented by members of the Australian Meteorological & Oceanographic Society (AMOS) and Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA). A selection of posters entered in a competition aimed at helping initiate questions and comments during the panel discussion can be viewed beforehand. The talks will be followed by a panel discussion and questions form the audience.
