Biography
Hakase completed his PhD in Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria, Canada, in 2018, where he studied the sea-ice and oceanic production and emissions of the climate-active gas dimethylsulfide in the Arctic. Prior to that, he obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, where he studied the physical and biogeochemical processes in the Labrador Sea. Now at UTas as a CLEX postdoc, he investigates the impacts of mesoscale eddies, marine heatwaves, and anthropogenic climate change on the Southern Ocean biogeochemical dynamics.
