Climate and weather models are the primary means by which we can predict future changes in the ocean-atmosphere-land system, and also act as a research tool into climate and weather processes. This program improves Australia’s ACCESS climate model for the benefit of research and prediction across our Centre and across the nation. We will focus on improving the resolution of our simulations, enhancing the processes represented in our models, comparing our model output with observations and making models and their output easier for researchers to use. These tools will underpin advances in each of our other research programs.

We are undertaking two related projects:
- High-resolution regional atmospheric modelling.
- Developing Australia’s coupled modelling capacity (N96, 0.25 degree ocean).
