Job type: One year, full-time contract with the Australian Institute of Marine Science (www.aims.gov.au).
Job description: Help a team of ecosystem modellers and economists build decision-support tools for coral reef restoration and conservation.
Payment level: Nominally Academic A / AOF 4 ($85k-$95k). Level B / AOF 5 can be negotiated depending on demonstrated experience and expertise.
Who we are looking for: Someone with advanced MatLab-coding skills. Mathematics, engineering and computing background desirable. Ideally, you would have experience solving multi-objective optimisation problems for complex systems. Ability to work with large datasets (space and time) would be a requirement. Experience in software development would be a bonus. A completed PhD is not a requirement if you can demonstrate industry or consulting experience.
When: As soon as possible. Ideally mid July 2021.
Where: Online is fine. The team is in Brisbane, Townsville, Melbourne, and Perth. We’d expect you to be available on email daily, and for team meetings (Zoom or MS Teams) at least twice weekly.
