Biography
Dr Ashneel Chandra is a Research Fellow in Tropical Rainfall at the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. His research interests are in tropical climate including the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO), El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), and the combined influence of climate variability on weather extremes such as tropical cyclones and extreme precipitation. Dr Chandra uses a combination of observations, reanalysis and climate models in his research.
Dr Chandra completed his PhD at the University of Bergen (UiB), Norway. His dissertation investigated the role of ocean heat content and equatorial ocean dynamics on the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO).
