Biography
Ghyslaine received her PhD at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France' in 2012, where she explored the interannual variability and predictability of the Indian Summer Monsoon – El Nino Southern Oscillation system.
She then worked as a Climate Extremes Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne and later moved to a Research Fellow position exploring tropical and extratropical atmospheric circulations.
At the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes, Ghyslaine aims to examine the variability of the Southern Annular Mode (SAM), and in particular its links with temperature and rainfall extremes in the Southern Hemisphere. She will use observations and model experiments to investigate these teleconnections and the underlying physical mechanisms.
Ghyslaine will also examine the relationship between SAM and ENSO, its representation in global coupled models, and try to understand how these tropical-extratropical interactions are projected to change in the context of global warming.
