I graduated from Calicut University with BSc in Physics (2016), and completed a MSc in Physical Oceanography at Cochin University of Science and Technology in 2018. My Masters research looked at the dicothermal layer in the Indian Sector of Southern Ocean (The dicothermal layer is the seasonal subsurface cold water layer between the warmer Circumpolar Deep Water (CDW) below and the heated summer surface waters above). I am currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Tasmania on sea ice-ocean interactions in the Southern Ocean.

THESIS: Sea ice ocean-interaction in Southern Ocean

The research will entails extensive analysis of Southern Ocean sea ice-ocean interactions in both observations and climate models. These interactions affect not just observed changes in sea ice, but also rates of anthropogenic heat and carbon uptake by the Southern Ocean. This work will therefore align with CLEX RP4 (Climate Variability and Teleconnections), Project 4 (Southern Ocean circulation and biogeochemistry). In particular, the work will inform the work plans 'Document the drivers of change in the Southern Ocean, and estimate how these changes will project onto circulation and climate in other regions', and 'Investigate the differences in carbon storage and uptake in the Southern Ocean, as a function of model resolution and circulation'.
