Navid Constantinou developed a new Julia package that provides solvers for geophysical fluid dynamics problems in periodic domains. It was also the first time he had been involved in an open peer-review process, and this experience was "mind changing".

Martin Jucker writes about his latest creation, Iceberg, a database/scientific journal that comes with a doi but which focuses on scientific logbooks, manuals, experiments, code, a knowledge base for best practice and a record of things to avoid. The aim is to help scientists stop repeating the mistakes of colleagues who may have attempted the very same research you are performing now.

Xarray is the python library which is widely used for analysing Earth System Data stored in netCDF files. CMS has prepared eight short videos (most are between 5 and 7 minutes) that can be watched at your own pace before the training and a series of problem notebooks.
