CLEX researchers examined the behaviour of a passive tracer released near the seafloor in an idealised two-dimensional flow driven by bottom-enhanced turbulence.
This project defines a new PV that naturally generalizes the 1942 PV to multicomponent fluids such as these. We will assess the quality of its conservation law in both oceanographic and atmospheric datasets, comparing against those for previous definitions of PV.
It has been a very active time for the Climate Variability and Teleconnections Research Program in terms of research and engagement activities right across the team, including two expeditions - one drilling coral cores in the tropics and another going south to the Antarctic Circumpolar Current.
